Polished Concrete

What is Polished Concrete?

Polished concrete is a process which enhances the natural beauty of existing concrete. With endless aggregate, sheen, colorants, and decorative options, polished concrete allows designers to tailor the floor to compliment any interior.

Why Utilize Polished Concrete?

Picture
Elimination of Dusting
  • Resulting in a cleaner, easier-to-maintain environment.

Picture
Stain Resistant
  • Polished concrete transforms porous concrete into a tightened floor dense enough to repel stains.

Picture
Improved Reflectivity and Ambient Lighting
  • Reduces the energy bill by reflecting lighting around buildings, as well as looks beautiful.

Picture
Increased Slip Resistance
  • Flattening the floor will increase the coefficient of friction when compared to ordinary concrete.

Picture
Cost Effective
  • Requires little maintenance, no waxing or stripping to maintain the sheen, which reduces costs in the long run.

LEED Friendly

Polished concrete not only utilizes existing concrete surfaces, eliminating additional materials such as coverings/coatings and moving towards sustainable building, it typically contains no VOC's, making it friendly for any USBGC LEED project.

Aggregate & Sheen Options:

AGGREGATE EXPOSURES:
SHEEN LEVEL CHOICES:
Picture
Cream Polish:
The lowest amount of aggregate exposure offered. Minimal to no coarse aggregate is exposed, only the sand, to create a flat, smooth, uniform look. This is the most common polish in modern homes.

Picture
Salt & Pepper:
The surface is lightly ground, exposing the small aggregate to look as the name says. This is very common in industrial and commercial settings, and luxury residential construction.

Picture
Exposed Aggregate:
This is mottled stone exposed through heavy grinding, available in three size aggregate: small, medium, and large. Most common in luxury residential and retail construction, it adds character and charm anywhere it is installed.
